When Tyler and Catelynn signed over the rights to their newborn daughter Carly, it was a devastating decision but at the time they thought it was the right one.
This decision has been a source of ‘Teen Mom’ discussions over the past decade or so, and some new insights provide a more complete picture.
How did it happen?
The couple had just signed on to film for MTV’s ’16 & Pregnant’ when it happened. This was, of course, the reason why they were filmed in the first place.
Reportedly, Brandon & Theresa weren’t even aware that they would be featured on television over the adoption case.
This all happened in 2009, with Carly’s birthday being May 18, 2009.
Catelynn & Tyler’s true feelings
At the time of the adoption, Tyler & Catelynn’s future wasn’t looking bright.
This was due to the fact that they were still both teens with no outlook on life.
Over the course of the years, many things have been said about the adoption, from both the couple and the media.
Most of the time, the adoption is seen as a ‘wholesome’ decision but it seems like deep down the couple thinks differently.
In an episode of ‘Teen Mom’ back in 2012, Tyler expressed his true feelings saying that: “I would lie to you if I said I didn’t regret it sometimes…”
Adding, “I was literally petrified about being the sh—y dad that my dad was.”
