Ryan’s history with the show is well known as he’s one of the ‘OG’ stars along with his ex-wife Maci McKinney.

Somewhere along the road, Ryan managed to get himself in a not-so-desirable situation due to substance abuse. Reportedly, the network didn’t want to show Ryan as a recovering user so they just opted out of filming him and his storyline.

It’s also worth noting that MTV completely banned Ryan & Mackenzie from filming the show, not just a segment of their lives that could have been moved past from, but the couple was fired not too long ago.

“They don’t want to show me or Mack in a happy light or that I am active in my recovery,” Ryan said at the time.
